A New York federal paper, accounting for the astonishing change in the State in favor of Republicans, says – “The War, although everywhere unpopular, is nevertheless extremely advantageous, particularly to the agricultural part of the community, in the state of New York. Produce of every kind commands a high price – Labor is high, Money is more plenty among the farming class than it ever has before been: and this accounts for it.
