High atop the stone tower of the NH Liberty News offices, newly elected representative Glen Aldritch was interviewed by the whistling wind about moving to NH and running for office.
SLN: What issues will you focus on as a State Rep?
GA: Constitutional carry, decriminalization of marijuana and looking at who we’re locking up and why. Our towns are foaming at the mouth to build a brand spanking new jail. They’re looking for any and every reason to express how much they need the additional space (and luxuries). I’m willing to bet that if they looked at the reasons they’re locking people up, such as possession of a plant, they’ll find some people who don’t need to be housed there and should be working in our community and growing our economy.
SLN: Anything else you’d like to share with SLN readers?
GA: I’d like to commend those of us who have chosen to do what feels so unnatural and to enter the political arena. We’re not a people that look to rule over others, but I can say I’m proud to be part of a movement that is showing that we are not coming to take over, but to enhance the state. We’ve been very vocal that we invite our critics to come by and find out who we are. I’ve invited the people who wrote letters about me to come out and pick up garbage with us. I don’t expect that they will anytime soon, but it shows us as the transparent bunch we are. I am lucky to have such great people to live around.
