Frantically spinning the wheel of the WMUR airship, James Pindell barely turned it toward the safety of an updraft in time to miss Carol Shea-Porter's mound of campaign cash:
Democratic U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter is not considered a fundraising god. She vocally detests just about everything to do with raising campaign money. In her first run for Congress, she raised the least amount for anyone who won a Congressional seat in the country.
All of this begs the question about what is going on with her two main Republican challengers in the first Congressional District this year. With just four months until Election Day, Shea-Porter has raised more money than they have every quarter.
Tuesday night, Shea-Porter told the Federal Election Commission she raised $212,000 in April, May and June and had $612,000 in her bank account to spend. Among her Republican challengers, former UNH business school dean Dan Innis raised $134,000 in the same period, but $50,000 of that was a personal loan. Innis has $114,000 in cash on hand. Former U.S. Rep. Frank Guinta raised $132,000 from individuals and has $252,000 cash on hand. Interestingly, Guinta spent a whopping $100,000 during the same three months.
After the Republican primary on Sept. 9, national committees and SuperPACs are expected to get involved in this contest, deemed one of the nation's most competitive. Still, the money advantage Shea-Porter enjoys could be very key in defending herself in what could be a Republican year.
WMUR has an article up about how Carol Shea-Porter always raises so much more campaign money, even though she doesn’t like that part of the gig. (Except for her first win, when she ran on vapors and benefitted from a Democrat wave election, she has not had to work hard to raise enough money.)
Sorry. Shea-Porter is not some fundraising wunderkind. If she were she’d have a leadership PAC and share that gift with others of her kind. She doesn’t and she isn’t.
If you allow me a moment I will explain in very few words why she continues to accumulate campaign money.
CSP is a reliable far-left vote from a swing state. She doesn’t ask questions, nor does she rock the Democrats rotten little boat. If you just look at who donates to her, year, after year, after year (after year), no further explanation is needed.
The Abortion industry, Rich ‘retired’ Liberals, Rich Liberals in office or running Liberal PACs or special interests, and Unions. Lots of unions. Most of her big money traditionally comes from Democrat leadership PAC’s and Unions. People who know she will do what they say and vote as she is told.
She can just sit there like a wool rug and collect dog hair. She is a little blue piggy-bank, on a bench near the back, and these groups will keep shoving money through her slot to keep that reliable left wing vote planted firmly in view.
No mystery. No allure. Just a reliable bought and paid for far left rubber stamp for the Liberal agenda.
